What does “4/0 – Full Color Front” mean?

In commercial full color offset printing the term 4/0 or “4 over 0” as it is spoken means that we will print 4 colors on the front and 0 colors (or blank back) on the back.

The appearance of “Full Color” in commercial printing is accomplished by using 4 very specific “Process Color Inks” which are printed one color over the other using very small precisely controlled dot or spot sizes, at very accurate line screen rulings and with perfect angles for the printed dots or spots which all when viewed by the human eye will give the appearance of” full color.”

By using Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black process color inks printed perfectly in register one over the other “the illusion of full color” is created!
